Sophie is an innovative founder with a passion for empowering young people to find fulfilling careers. With a background in mathematics and media, Sophie has worked in a number of operational roles, which exposed her to how difficult it is for young individuals to find meaningful entry-level work. She realised there were several barriers to equitable and inclusive recruitment, and embarked on a mission to improve the way job seekers find their first role. With these challenges in mind, Sophie founded Pollen, a platform dedicated to connecting junior talent with meaningful job opportunities, particularly with SMEs and businesses for good. Sophie's vision is to ensure that every young job seeker, regardless of background or experience level, has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Through a series of behavioural science and competency based, fun assessments, Pollen has curated a CV-less screening process, which allows candidates to be more accurately assessed on their capabilities and potential.

Connecting through food with Taahira Ayoob

Connecting with ourselves and others through food...

A conversation with Taahira Ayoob about identity, culture, food and land, and how to reconnect with ourselves through these.

Happy listening!

Identity & culture through food Taahira Ayoob, Adrienn Pasics
00:00 / 54:24

Taahira is a curious person, driven to learn, listen and speak on issues related to food heritage, culture, ecology, and the way we travel and understand the world around us. Her work has spanned across different places and organisations - from working at a regional tourism board in Catalonia to a media organisation in Pakistan and starting her own home-cooking experience with her 60-year-old mother in Singapore.  Recently, she's got chosen as a fellow at the centre for Peace and Conflict for her research proposal on Tamil heritage food in the north of Sri Lanka. She's spent the last 6 weeks mainly in the northern province of Sri Lanka speaking, listening and cooking with older women about their knowledge of the land and the ways they feed themselves. She's wrapping up her research in SL and finding ways to disseminate this knowledge to more people. She's on the lookout for magazines / travel publications / academic papers looking for pitches on this topic :)
